My Husband

1. What is his name? Jed Steven Winters
2. Who eats more? He does, but you wouldn’t guess that. I don’t think he’s gained more than 5 pounds since high school.
3. Who said "I love you" first? Jed did, at Scott’s old house in Harriman.
4. Who is more talkative? Neither…. I would say we are both more on the quiet side. There are occasions where we will get talking and it will last for hours.
5. Who is smarter? Jed, definitely. His brain is full obscure facts and he can do math problems in seconds in his head.
6. Who is more sensitive? Probably me.
7. Who does the laundry? Most of the time it is me. He has to help out so that his clothes get washed too…. Sometimes it’s all I can do to wash and fold mine and the girls’ laundry.
8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? The right side when laying in bed? If so, then that would be Jed.
9. Who pays the bills? I do.
10. Who cooks more? I usually do.
11. What meals do you cook together? It’s scattered… sometimes breakfast and sometimes dinner.
12. Who is more stubborn? We both are… Jed would say I am more stubborn.
13. Who is the first to admit they are wrong? I do. Jed doesn’t say he is wrong very often.
14. Who has more siblings? Hmmm, do the half-siblings and step-siblings count? Charma = 1 sibling, 2 half-siblings and 8 step-siblings. Jed = 3 siblings and 5 half-siblings.
15. Who wears the pants in the relationship? We both do.
16. What do you like to do together? Go on horse rides, go to dinner, watch movies, play with our girls and hang with family.
17. Who eats more sweets? Jed. If it has sugar, it’s not safe around Jed.
18. What is his guilty pleasure? Beer and Football. Hmm, but I don't think he feels guilty about them.
19. How did you meet? His dad was training my friend’s brother’s horse. Did you follow that?
20. Who asked who out first? Jed asked me out, I think. He used to come to the pet store where I worked to talk and hang out.
21. Who kissed who first? I think it was mutual. But he touched my foot first! (inside joke)
22. Who proposed? No formal proposal…we eloped. Kind of sad we don’t have a romantic story.
23. His best feature? His eyes.
24. What is his greatest quality? His Humor. It’s a “dry” humor and sometimes you have to be on your toes to catch it.
25. I tag: Anyone who loves their Husband as much as I do!!!

Not the traditional 1st year photos....

Normally you would be seeing a picture of a face covered in birthday cake on a 1 year old's birthday... well that wasn't the case with Emmy. She accidentally fell down our stairs and had a ride to the hospital in an ambulance. It was pretty scary but we are very lucky to have such a tough little girl. She only has a bump on her head and is doing just fine. Thanks to everyone that helped out. We love you.

Erin's Birthday Party (The Friend Party)

Here is the cake. Great Grandma Kathleen baked the cake and Erin and I decorated it. It turned out pretty cute!

Grandma Susan let Erin have her friend birthday party at her house in Lehi. Almost all the girls from her class and two other friends came. I think we had 12 girls all together... not sure though, there was a lot of little princesses.

They all colored some Disney pages and then played a couple of games. Kiss the Frog (like pin the tail on the donkey) and Musical pass the Wand (like musical chairs). Callie and Susan helped with the games... THANKS!
Then it was time for presents. Erin received a lot of Barbies.

After presents we sang to Erin and she blew out the candles and everyone had cake. Then the Moms and Dads started to arrive and the princesses went home to their castles.

Erin then got to open a present from her Grandma Susan.... a super cute magnet board with letters.
Everything went well... It was a good party.

Gingerbread Houses

We decorated gingerbread houses at Grandma Susan's house last weekend. It was fun to see all the different ways the kids used the candy. Sorry I didn't get a picture of all the houses completed.

Almost One!

WOW, I can't believe Emmy will be ONE next month! Where has the year gone? She is a very busy girl and is keeping us on our toes. She now stands all by herself and we think she will be walking soon. She can also hold her own bottle to drink now which I think made Jed very happy.

The Pig Roast

Saturday morning Jed got up early and started the pit fire. Once the rocks were hot in the fire, it was time to get the pig ready.

They wrapped it all up in several layers of foil.

Jed thought that it needed a tail.

The worst part for the guys was digging out the pit. Is was SO HOT that they could hardly get close enough to shovel the coals and rocks out. Shawn made some foil protective wear to shield himself.

After the pig was in the ground, they worked on putting the roof on Jed's hay barn.

About six hours later, it was time to dig up the pig.

Everyone was anxious to see what the pig would look like, especially the kids.

The pig turned out great!

We rented a castle bouncer for the kids, which was a hit with all of them including some of the adults.

We had a lot of friends and family come out, and tons of delicious food. Thanks to all who came out and helped make this day such a fun event. We hope to do it again next year!

Halloween

The girls and I met up with some of the Grow family on Halloween. Erin really was into Trick-or-Treating this year and she wanted to "Trick-or-Treat her legs off" she said. We went out two times and she got a lot of candy. Back at Grandma and Grandpa's she took a ton of pictures, but I forgot to take a picture of her. oops.

We'll Pick it up....

If you use straw bales in your holiday decorations and then don't know what to do with them after the holiday is over..... just call me or Jed (or post under comments) and we will come and pick them up from your house. We always need straw for our little goats and pony in the winter. Thanks!

First tooth

Erin lost her first tooth (well, second if you count the one the dentist pulled). It had been just hang'n on for a while and everyone kept asking Erin if they could pull it out, but she wouldn't let anyone. Then at Abby's birthday party she let Tracee "look" at her tooth and before she knew it, Tracee pulled that tooth out. Erin put her tooth under her pillow and the Tooth Fairy gave her a Sacajawea dollar. Erin said she received it because she had been so brave.

What's in yours?

I think a lot of us have a cedar chest or some type of "hope chest." I cleaned the pile of blankets and clothes off mine the other day and wondered... "what exactly do I have in there?"
I received this cedar chest as a high school graduation present from my Mom. It still has the plastic on the top, probably because I take after my Grandpa Grow a little and like to keep things nice.
Inside mine are some baby clothes from Taiwan that were a gift from some past coworkers in Taipei when Erin was born. Handmade baby blankets that were made for Erin that I can't bring myself to let her drag around the house.

Pillows I made in high school and an afghan my Grandma Grow made me. Can you guess my favorite colors in high school?
It was fun to pull this stuff out and look at them again. It's been awhile.... maybe I should put a time capsule in there for the next time I unearth the cedar chest again in 5 years.

A Tornado!

Jed, Shawn and Scott were out working on Jed's barn about a week ago and saw this "dirt devil" start up just west of Fairfield. It grew and grew and became a baby tornado! I wished my camera zoomed in closer so you could see it better. It was pretty neat.

Goodbye Big RED!!!

It is finally official! We will have heat this winter! Yes, the big RED oil burning furnace has been replaced by a shiny new propane furnace. The last two years we have been fighting with the old one and mostly relying on our wood burning stove to keep us warm. We also have new duct work for all the basement rooms, so Erin should be comfortable this winter in her basement room.
I remember being a kid and sleeping down stairs in this house in the winter and being soooo cold. My brother and I would pile on the blankets, so many that you could barely move under them. We both had heaters, the old ones with the orange hot wires, and electric blankets. Erin is lucky!

Tailgate

Today was the first UTAH home game. Jed and Lee were going to the game, the girls and I just came up for the tailgate party. Erin loves the attention and even got her picture taken with a UTE cheerleader (I think her name was Amanda, and she is friends with Kara).

Emmy was pretty good the whole time (except when Lynda held her). She loved the crackers!

Here is Lee. No one was safe when Erin had the camera. Well, Lynda was, she paid Erin to delete all the pictures with her in them.... and she did.

CHEESY!! Oh well, we had fun.
