The Canyon

I wanted to get some pictures of the girls in the fall leaves so we decided to drive the Alpine Loop. Jed and I have not been on the loop for probably 10 years... it was a scary drive! There were SO many people and we were in Jed's truck and the road is real narrow. After all that, we find a spot to pull off and try to take the girls pictures. Didn't work out so good, oh well. Later we met up with the Townes family and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. The fall leaves were beautiful, the weather was perfect, the friends hilarious, the kids were kids and it turned out to be a fun day in the canyon.

Boordy Vineyards

To finish up our last weekend in Maryland, we decided to visit a winery.


Boordy Vineyards is Maryland's oldest family run winery. Established in 1945, Boordy is owned by the R.B. Deford family and is situated on their 230-acre farm in the Baltimore countryside.


There were rows of carefully tended vines with dark purple grapes and a cluster of beautiful and charming 19th century farm buildings.


The weather was perfect!


We attended the wine tasting and tour.


The wine selection included oak-aged cabernets, crisp chardonnays & seyval blancs. One of my favorites was a Veritas Maryland port.

We each received score cards and in our own way coded which ones we liked best.

We relaxed in the shade and enjoyed a bottle of Shiraz.

On the tour we learned that Boordy produces 70,000 gallons of wine annually and....Hmmm.... I don't remember much more of the tour after that.

We are very sophisticated wine drinkers!

We restrained ourselves and only bought 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or so bottles to take with us. I hope we can get them home.... :)

Manhattan Trip

Just a few photos from our trip. We had a great time and I'm glad we made the effort to go. I don't know if I will be able to go back to New York later in life.... but I sure hope I can. It was a great experience.

FRIDAY SEPT 18TH

We left right after school Friday and headed to New York.

We parked on Staten Island and rode the Ferry to Manhattan.

SATURDAY SEPT 19TH

In the morning we bought "all day" subway tickets and headed out to see the sights.

I'm Back In Maryland Again

My last trip to Maryland....I will be home on the 24th. Hurray!
