Sailing on the Woodwind

Sarah and I took a sunset sailboat tour on the Woodwind Schooner. We sailed from "Ego Alley" into the Chesapeake Bay and down the Severn river. It was a lot of fun. I was able to help raise one of the sails and got to take a turn at the helm. It was such a fun experience!

A Sunday in Annapolis

We toured the Maryland State House today. It was the first peacetime capitol of the United States. George Washington resigned is commission as commander-in-chief here and the Treaty of Paris was ratified here that officially ended the Revolutionary War. At the top of the dome is the original lightning rod that was designed by Benjamin Franklin. We also walked around and took pictures of homes that William Paca and Samuel Chase lived in. They signed the Declaration of Independence. We also got our picture taken in front of the Hammond Harwood House built in 1774 that boasts the "Most Beautiful Doorway in America."

Pennsylvania

Sarah and I drove to Pennsylvania today. We stopped in Lancaster and went to the market and visitors center where we got to see some antique printing presses. Then we drove over to Landis Valley Museum that collects and exhibits Pennsylvania-German culture. Wonderful museum! You feel you are back in time in an 1800s village. From there we drove to Intercourse and ate at a "family style" restaruant. So good to have a home cooked meal! Last we took a ride in an Amish buggy through the countryside and through a working Amish farm. Awesome trip!

Maryland Crab Feast

Little Critters at school

At school the littlest things can entertain us... probably because the class we are in is SO dull.

Here is a little frog that we found outside our classroom. Cute little guy!

We decided to try our luck at catching crabs.... so we bought a net, some string and some chicken necks and headed to the dock at lunch time.

So far we have not caught any crabs... but it's been something different to do on an otherwise boring school day here in Maryland.

Annapolis on Saturday

We went on a food and history walking tour in Annapolis on Saturday. My camera died so I don't have very many pictures. This was such a FUN tour. I would suggest it to any one going to Annapolis. You walked with a guide (dressed in colonial attire) who pointed out and talked about the history of the area. We also got to taste a variety of food and drink.


Here is a flooded road that caused us to detour.... I thought it was funny.


We were able to visit with a very nice lady and sit in her front room. She still lives in her family's home and she told us some stories and showed us some very neat antiques and family memorabilia.

We saw beautiful gardens, old homes, wonderful architecture, Inns and many many more things that I wish I could show you. I'm hoping to make another trip down there....it was a beautiful place!
